Chivaughn Clarke’s commitment to autism awareness compasses over 30 years of personal experience as an advocate for establishing support systems for caregivers of family members with autism.  Affectionately known as Mrs. Ausome, Chivaughn is the real-life mom of awesome son Kenneth. 

At the time of her son’s birth, there was not a great amount of information available to address everyday challenges that parents face when raising and nurturing a child with autism. Now, Chivaughn empowers others to replace the term autism with one often used among members of the autism community. "Ausome”.

Her “ausome” son Kenneth is the inspiration for her new children’s book series,” A Day in the Life of Kenny Ausome”, published by her company, Hibiscus Publishing House. Each volume addresses everyday life encounters by caregivers of family members with autism.  The first book in the series is entitled, “A Day in the Life of Kenny: Kenny Wears a Mask”. 

Chivaughn recently founded The Ausome Angel Network. The Ausome Angel Network provides family members, caregivers, and anyone apart of an ausome persons support team, space to gather, share information about experiences and receive encouragement without giving explanations or being judged for their reality. Recently, Chivaughn launched an apparel line designed especially for a caregiver’s comfort, Ausome Angel Wear.

Chivaughn is a retired New York City Police Sergeant. During her tenure with the New York Police Department, she was a member of the sergeant trio that founded L.E.A.F. (Law Enforcement Autism Families). The award-winning team members were the pioneers that formed the support group for all ranks, both uniform, and civilian of the New York City Police Department, that had family members on the autism spectrum. She lives happily with her husband Kenneth Sr. and son, Kenneth Jr., also known as, Kenny Ausome. They are dual residents of New York City and Charlotte, North Carolina.
